Workforce Solutions offers Phlebotomy class beginning in July

Phlebotomy, or the process of drawing blood, refers to the use of a needle to take blood from a person’s vein. Mastering this process can be a critical asset for any future health care professional.

Northeast State’s Office of Workforce Solutions presents a Phlebotomy class beginning in July and open to anyone interested in learning the process.

The class is scheduled for Thursday evenings beginning July 8 and continuing to September 9. Classes meet from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the Regional Center for Health Related Professions (RCHP), 300 W. Main St., on the Northeast State at Kingsport campus. The course fee is $775.00. Participants can register by appointment on June 24.

Phlebotomists specialize in drawing blood and work in hospitals, clinics, medical offices, laboratories, and public health facilities. Phlebotomists are crucial members of any medical team, providing quality laboratory samples and patient/donor care in a variety of medical settings.

Individuals interested in starting a career in the medical field, prospective patient care technicians, current nurses, or those looking to develop skills may be good candidates for the class. The training includes theory and hands-on instruction during the class. The course includes labs and students completing 100 documented sticks to draw blood.
