Northeast State Community College recognized the year’s distinguished students, staff, and faculty members at the 31st Honors Convocation held Thursday night in the WRCPA Theatre on the Blountville campus.
Northeast State Interim President Dr. Connie Marshall welcomed students and audiences to the Wellmont Regional Center for the Performing Arts Theatre. The ceremony host Elizabeth M. Bryan Kirk won the Outstanding Student of the Year Award. Kirk is an All-Tennessee Community College Academic Team Scholar. He earned the Coca-Cola Academic Team Silver Scholar award. He served as president of Northeast State’s Alpha Iota Chi chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. An Honors Program student, Kirk will graduate summa cum laude this spring.

The College also honored the President’s All-Academic Team of 2021-22. The All-Academic Team recognized more than 50 students graduating this spring with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
The Adult Learner of the Year Award was presented to Karina Whitehead. Zachary Andina received the Outstanding Honors Program Student award.
This marked the first time Honors Convocation took place in the WRCPA Theatre.
The Spring 2022 commencement ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at the outdoor amphitheater located on the Blountville campus and will be divided into three ceremonies by academic divisions.
