Northeast State commemorates Hispanic Heritage Month Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 highlighting the history, literature, and life of Hispanic culture in the Americas.
The Multicultural Center in our Student Serivces Building culminated the month with a Hispanic Heritage celebration in the Student Services Building.
This month is an opportunity to celebrate Northeast State students, faculty, and staff, as well as teaching, , research, and scholarship connected to the shared and distinctive parts of Latin and Hispanic cultures, histories, and heritage. Hispanic students at Northeast State presented cultural insights ranging from clothing and art to food and politics. Many students and alumni set up exhibits and display informative resources related to Hispanic heritage.
The month celebrates the contributions of the Latin American community in the United States was introduced in 1968 and has since transformed into a nationally recognized, month-long commemoration of Latin cultures. Basler Library at Northeast State offers a wide variety of materials about Hispanic and Latin American culture available year-round for check out.
From Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, the United States recognizes National Hispanic Heritage Month, honoring the vibrant histories, languages, traditions, and values that transcend borders and unite Latine peoples across the Americas and Caribbean islands.
