Dr. Marshall urged the inductees to make the most of their time at Northeast State and take advantages of all the College’s opportunities to grow and learn.

“The experiences you have here will stick with you always,” Dr. Marshall said. “You have already proven you have discipline, knowledge, and desire to be successful. Use those qualities as a driving force to make a true impact on those around you. Welcome to the Phi Theta Kappa family and go do great things.”

To qualify for membership to Phi Theta Kappa, a student must be enrolled full-time in an associate degree program, have completed at least 12 hours of college-level coursework, and have a minimum 3.5 grade point average. A college’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter extends membership invitations to all students meeting these criteria.

The Alpha Iota Chi chapter consistently earns regional and national PTK convention accolades for chapter projects and individual officer service. The chapter recently earned 1st place award as the state’s Distinguished Chapter Officer Team at the Tennessee Regional PTK Convention. Alpha Iota Chi holds five-star status, the highest level of participation in Phi Theta Kappa activities.

PTK is the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 1.3 million members and 1,300 chapters located in all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canada, and Germany.
