Members of Northeast State’s debate team and speech club traveled to Nashville Nov. 17-19 to take part in the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature.
Students Dean Fagg and Connor Sproule served as lawyers in the judicial section of the conference, while Alexander Benton, Courtland McGuire, Riley Axelrod, and Rebekah Saulsbury served in the legislature. The attendees presented bills, participated in elections, and engaged in a challenging court case.
Bills authored by the students were considered by both the house and senate, and notably, one bill successfully passed in both chambers. Congratulations to the Northeast State’s TISL delegates on their achievements.
The Northeast State Argumentation and Debate Society student club gives students an opportunity to participate in competitive forensic tournaments. The society also provides learners with a forum for free expression and offers opportunities for students to voice their opinions on current events and matters of interest to the academic community.
