Workforce Solutions offers Certified Clinical Medical Assistant course

A CCMA course begins Jan. 22 at the RCHP in Kingsport.

Northeast State’s Workforce Solutions is offering a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) course beginning January 22, 2024, at the College’s Kingsport campus.

Individuals interested in starting a career in the medical field or those looking to further develop their skills can benefit from the CCMA course. Medical assistants complete administrative and clinical tasks in the offices of physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. A CCMA’s duties vary with the location, specialty, and size of the practice. The course enables students to become valued medical team members with skills necessary in a variety of health care settings.

The 20-week course meets on-ground at the Regional Center for Health Professions, 300 W. Main Street, on the Northeast State at Kingsport campus. The class features a 40-hour clinical component with assigned health care facilities. Students who complete the course gain technical knowledge required for success when taking the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification examination. The exam is administered at the end of the course. The course details are as follows:

What time: 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Where: Regional Center for Health Professions, 300 W. Main St., Kingsport

Students will need to supply their own scrub uniform (black), white lab coat, clear safety glasses, and clean, white athletic shoes (no mesh tops or open toes) or nursing shoes. Additionally, students must have CPR certification along with other health-related records to participate in clinicals.

Attendance at all classes and clinical assignments is mandatory. Class schedule may be adjusted due to unforeseen causes, such as inclement weather.
