Fall 2024 Northeast State Nursing grads celebrated at pinning ceremony

The Northeast State Nursing Program celebrated 26 soon-to-be graduates during its fall pinning ceremony on Dec. 16 at the Ballad Health Performing Arts Center Theater on the Blountville campus.

The pinning ceremony is a tradition that welcomes new nurses into the profession. Each student received a Northeast State Nursing pin for their white lab coat, marking the completion of the associate of applied science degree.

Northeast State pinned its first class of nursing program graduates in May 2009.

The Fall 2024 class of Nursing graduates are Alaina Abla, Jared Adams, Clarissa Aguilar, Chloe Anderson, Dailey Carter, Megan Casteel, Brandy Castle, Claudia Davidson, Haven Dockery, Sarah Dotson, Laura Fields, Kristen Flack, Natasha Foster, Ian Hall, Dominick Isham, Bailey Lisk-Jakob, Nyraja Johnson, Philipa Kamara, Mackenzie Kilgore, Meredith Mumpower, Erika Patterson, Keylynn Reed, Kelly Rojas, Brittany Rouse, Gracie Sewell, and Josie Watson.

Northeast President Jeff McCord praised the Nursing graduates for their dedication to service and emphasized the significance of the pinning ceremony.

“Tonight’s pinning ceremony is more than just another graduation event—it’s a rite of passage,” McCord said. “You are responding to a calling of service and sacrifice–to comfort, to care, and to heal. As a member of the faculty and staff of Northeast State Community College, it has been an honor to walk alongside you for a little while on your journey to service. Thank you, and congratulations.”

Sarah Dotson and Ian Hall earned the Outstanding Student awards for academic performance and student support. Megan Casteel was named the Adult Learner of the Year.

Student representatives were also honored, recognizing Keylynn Reed and Kelly Rojas.
