Northeast State recognized the year’s outstanding students at the 34th annual Honors Convocation held Thursday, May 1 at the Ballad Health Center for the Performing Arts on the Blountville campus.
The college’s annual Honors Convocation recognizes Northeast State’s top student achievers in each academic department, students graduating in May with honors, and the Outstanding Student Award.
“Our students are not only incredibly bright, they have the determination, the discipline, and the true grit to forge path of accomplishment and achievement,” remarked Dr. Jeff McCord, president of Northeast State, during the ceremony. “We call students to better paths, but there’s no doubt the students call us to be better people.”

Northeast State students Stephanie Bolden and Shanna Holt were named All-Tennessee Community College Academic Team Scholars.

Shanna Holt received the Outstanding Student of the Year for 2025. Holt will graduate this spring with associate degrees in psychology, sociology, and social work. She will graduate this spring. Holt was named All-USA Community College Academic Team Scholar and Coca-Cola New Century Transfer Pathway Scholar. She is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society for community college students. President’s All-Academic Team of students graduating this spring with 4.0 grade point averages for their career coursework at Northeast State. She is an All-Tennessee Academic team, All-USA Academic teams and a New Century Transfer Scholar, all awarded through the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.
Tabitha Casey received the Adult Learner of the Year Award.
The College also honored the President’s All-Academic Team of 2024-25. The All-Academic Team recognized the 87 students graduating this spring with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
