Northeast State is sponsoring a Summer Institute for Entertainment Technology featuring bluegrass legend Doyle Lawson on July 23, 24, and 25 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. The event will be held at the Northeast State at Bristol teaching site, 620 State St. in downtown Bristol. The fee for the three-day event is $250 (no food provided).
The focus of the workshop will be event management and feature the perspective of Lawson, an International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame (IBMHF) performer.
Topics will include sound, lighting, production, and performance techniques. Workshop facilitators are professionals who have set-up for a broad range of event types and in multiple venues. Day one will focus on event lighting, day two on live sound, and day three on recording.
With almost 40 albums to their credit, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver have multiple Grammy, Dove, Inspiration Country Music, International Blue Music Association, and Society for the Preservation of Blue Music Award nominations, and are seven-time winners of IBMA’s Vocal Group of the Year Award. Lawson’s group is the reigning Inspirational Country Music Association Vocal Group of the Year, crowned in October at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center, on the heels of Lawson’s induction into the IBMHF at the Ryman Auditorium in September 2012.
