Keeping Our Promise Peer mentoring, take 2

Apply now for one of 37 peer mentoring positions which will open to returning students starting Fall 2018. Take advantage of this opportunity to help incoming Tennessee Promise students maximize their experience at Northeast State.

You will attend a minimum of two mandatory meetings for training purposes; otherwise, you as a mentor arrange meeting times with assigned mentees based on your schedules. We will conduct training sessions on Aug. 13, from 9:00-11:30 a.m. and Aug. 14, from 1:00-2:30 p.m. Selected mentors will be required to attend one of these sessions.

The Keeping Our Promise Kick-Off event will be held on Sept. 6, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. This event will be required for mentors because this will be your opportunity to meet your mentee face-to-face. Every effort will be made to match you with students who have similar interests and similar majors.

During the first 10 weeks of the fall semester, mentors are required to contact mentees at least five times, simply because these are the most important weeks for new students. Afterward, we ask that mentors make contact monthly. Peer mentoring will provide you with wonderful opportunities to contribute to your college and community and thereby build your academic resume.

Applications are open now! Become a peer mentor this fall.
