Learning to play a musical instrument can be one of the most rewarding gifts anyone can give themselves. The Northeast State Music Department offers three exciting music education course options for the Spring 2021 semester.
The Flute Ensemble (MUS 2990 Z01) two-credit hour course meets via Zoom virtual classroom every Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Instructor Martha Egan leads the course. Students must provide their own flutes or piccolos.
The Guitar Class I (MUS 2992 Z01) course meets Monday and Wednesday, from noon to 1:20 p.m. This three-credit hour class teaches the basics for students seeking to play guitar. Class instructor is Kathleen Lorraine Den Bleyker. Students are required to bring his or her own guitar to participate in the class.
The third class offered, Individual Instruction in Piano, (MUS 1922), is a two-credit hour course. Craig Campbell is the piano instructor. A special fee of $90 for piano access is required per semester. Students taking the course also need access to a keyboard for practicing exercises and piano literature.
Music education offers a fun and challenging elective for students in any major. Northeast State offers an associate degree in Music for transfer to King University.
