How have you benefitted from your NE State scholarship?
My Northeast State work-study scholarship has allowed me to have fewer financial worries after transferring from Northeast. This scholarship helped me put my academics before any financial constraints. I have also made great connections with the staff in the President’s office. This scholarship has helped propel me towards success, and I am very grateful for the opportunity!
What factors helped you make the decision to attended Northeast State?
Both of my older siblings attended Northeast State, and they loved every second of their time here. This made the decision of where to attend quite clear for me. This college has a great foundation and opportunities open for students of all backgrounds. Attending Northeast State also meant I could continue to live at home while working on my degree. I have had more opportunities to find what interests me and experience less financial stress because of my decision to attend Northeast State.
Any advice on how to succeed in college?
My top tip to success in college is to not be afraid to get help. Sitting in a classroom and not understanding the material is a common scenario to be in. However, you have the control to succeed in that class or not. Going to the tutoring center, seeking help from fellow classmates, emailing teachers, or even attending office hours. These simple steps can help you from feeling cut off and isolated from performing well. No one will help you unless you first ask for help. Do not be afraid to take advantage of the opportunities that Northeast State offers because this school is here to help you succeed not to fail.
What do you like best about NE State?
What I like most about Northeast is how welcoming and friendly all the staff and administration are to students. I have had teachers go above and beyond to help me fix my schedule, give me advice about transferring, and even encouraging me to pursue my passions. There was not a single moment in my two years here that I was worried about not obtaining the help I needed.
What superpower do you wish you had?
This question is so easy because I would want to control time! You wake up and didn’t get enough sleep…stop time and sleep a couple more hours! You need more time to binge Netflix before bed then simply stop time and start that next episode. In all seriousness, having more time would lead to a multitude of more opportunities and experiences as well!
