The Northeast State Nursing program welcomed the 2020-21 class of graduates at the Pinning Ceremony held May 7 at the Regional Center for the Performing Arts Theatre on the College’s Blountville campus.
The College’s Director of Nursing, Johanna Neubrander, along with members of the department’s faculty and staff recognized this newest class of more than 40 students receiving their pins. The ceremony marked the first face-to-face pinning ceremony in the state since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020.
“You all have really been through it,” Professor Sandra Hooker told graduates during the ceremony. “I want you to know how proud the whole faculty is of your perseverance and well you have done.”
The pinning ceremony provides a symbolic welcoming of new nurses into the profession. Each graduating student received the Northeast Nursing pin on his or her white lab coat signifying completion of the associate of applied science degree.
