Local attorney Robert Arrington to hold book signing

Who can resist a writer who weaves the practice of law with tales of magic, aliens, and werewolves? Ah-hoo!

Don’t miss Kingsport attorney Robert “Bob” Arrington’s book signing at Northeast State Community College Friday, May 20 from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in the Basler Library on the Blountville campus.

Arrington will read selections from his trilogy of Haunted Law firm novels: The Ethics of Magic, The Pathways of Magic, and A Snowstorm of Magic. He will also sign copies for fans during the event.

“I wanted to have some fun with the paranormal,” Arrington said in an interview with the Kingsport Times-News. “And I wanted to give some people a little peek into how, based on reading I’ve done, into how some of these academic hearings work and also to show people a little bit about what lawyers can do and the problems lawyers have day-to-day.”

In The Ethics of Magic, college professor Mitch McCaffrey is battling to keep his job amid bogus accusations of sexual and racial harassment. A college compliance officer with a grudge is after Mitch with a vengeance, which is bad enough, but she is also a witch. Mitch enlists the aid of lawyer Kathryn Turner and, with the help of his love of magic, prepares for an enchanted and legal cat and mouse game.

The Pathways of Magic find McCaffrey teaming up with lawyers Kathryn Turner and Ben Callahan to aid a mysterious woman who says she’s being pursued by the CIA and the FBI, who are convinced the woman possesses a spell that will enhance the spy trade. Enlisting legal action and a werewolf, the government agencies are out for magical and legal blood. McCaffrey and his attorneys will have to summon all their paranormal and legal knowledge to avoid prison…or worse.

A Snowstorm of Magic finds McCaffrey and friends trapped by a snowstorm in the North Carolina mountains during a holiday vacation. Things take an unexpected turn when the storm grounds an alien ship. The aliens turn out to be a threat, forcing a showdown between magic and alien technology.

Reviewers from Amazon had this to say of the trilogy:

“Characters that you really like! Real life circumstances with a magical twist!”

“Robert L. Arrington provides the reader with a spellbinding, captivating story that involves current social issues. The author combines his knowledge of the law with positive thinking, magic, and ethics to create a riveting tale.”

“I couldn’t put it down. I love the characters. They become your friends.”

The books are available on Amazon.com in paperback and e-book versions.

Since his teenage years, Arrington says his first love has always been writing. He is an avid reader, especially science fiction, fantasy, historical novels, thrillers, and romance.

He is a dedicated North Carolina Tar Heel sports fan, a devoted husband, and a “professional” uncle to his siblings’ children and their children. He and his wife Deborah live happily with their three cats, Pyewacket, Miss Katie, and B.J.
