Johnson City Community Concert Band plays Northeast State July 16

The Johnson City Community Concert Band at Northeast State.

Hot summer nights? We’ve got those. Cool music? Yes, it is returning to Northeast State Community College, too!

Northeast State’s “Hot Nights, Cool Music” summer concert series returns with live music performances on campus. The series kicks off when the College welcomes the Johnson City Community Concert Band to perform on Saturday evening, July 16 at the Regional Performing Arts Center Theater on the Blountville campus next to Tri-Cities Airport.

The show’s theme is, A Musical Potpourri: A Mixture of Overtures, Medleys and Marches. The concert is a part of the Fun Fest events of Kingsport.  The show is free and open to the public. The performance begins at 7:00 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m., at the Performing Arts Theater.

Founded in 1983 by faculty members from East Tennessee State University, the Johnson City Community Band is made up of members and associate members who have diverse backgrounds in music. Professional musicians to physicians, attorneys, dentists, schoolteachers, and other occupations make up the band.
