The Northeast State Bears Esports crew engaged in two fierce Halloween night rumbles in Basler Library Esports Arena as the season continues.
The Bears’ Rocket League team of Hayley Fields (Snow_flakess), Mason Ramsey (Tan_O_Cuna), and Ethan Fink (Radio) won the best of five match three games to one over the Madison College Wolfpack (Madison, Wisc.). The Bears improved to 4-1 on the season with consistent play and teamwork on the digital pitch.
Rocket League gives gamers a fantastical sport-based video game where soccer and NASCAR meet. It features a competitive game mode based on teamwork and outmaneuvering opponents. Players advance the ball down the field to score goals and defend their own net.
In the second match of the night, the Bears’ Call of Duty: Vanguard team lost a tough match 3-0 to Highland Community College Cougars (Freeport, Ill.). Kaitlyn Snyder (PsychoKitty) Kayden Snyder (Drillbit), Isaac Stewart (Swiftcoastal) and Levi Dill (jakapoo2) battled valiantly in a match much closer than the final score.
Set in World War II, Call of Duty: Vanguard is a first-person shooter game where tactics and strategy combine with quick action. Teams must battle in various modes of gameplay demanding fast reflexes and teamwork.
Next up on the Northeast State Esports schedule, the Super Smash Brothers Ultimate duo of Silas Shook and Kayden Haselton look to stay undefeated on the season. Shook takes on an opponent from Potomac State College (Keyser, West Va.) while Haselton faces a challenger from Mineral Area College (Park Hills, Mo.) on November 2 in Basler Arena.
