Northeast State Community College recently partnered with Sync Space Entrepreneur Center on an 8-week program to help entrepreneurs and small businesses build a digital marketing strategy and learn creative design skills.
“The program provided valuable information for business owners to update their marketing efforts and get a better understanding of how to reach target audiences,” said Megan Almaroad, director of Northeast State’s Advancement Operations. “We were pleased to partner with Sync Space to offer these resources and help participants be more competitive in the marketplace.”
Throughout the free 8-week course, participants learned aspects of digital marketing from branding, visual design, and digital storytelling, including how to use free and easily accessible apps and tools to create their own digital content.
The course was curated for beginners, where each week built upon the previous classes to help the participants develop a template for visually communicating their business.
“This class taught me how much really went into marketing businesses, especially creating that emotional story to connect with my audience,” said Sabrina Mitchell, one of the cohort participants. “I’ve been able to use these apps and tips to create graphics not only for work but also for my family too.”
The cohort celebrated their graduation on Oct. 25, discussing what they learned and offering final feedback and questions. Some participants showed examples of graphics they had made and discussed tactics for continuing to network and partner with Northeast State for future marketing projects.
“Marketing and storytelling are vital for businesses operating today, and there is a wide range of tools and tactics for individuals to utilize. We specifically selected regional experts in fields ranging across marketing strategy, visual design, videography, and social media optimization,” said Heath Guinn, President of Sync Space. “As we continue to gather feedback from this cohort, we are excited to offer this program again in the spring for more members of the community to take advantage of.”
Hosted in partnership with Believe in Bristol and Bristol, TN. The Digital Marketing Bootcamp was provided free of charge to all participants courtesy of a grant sponsored by Northeast State and AT&T.
It was open to entrepreneurs and small business owners regardless of their status as a student at Northeast State. Among the program leads included Dr. Stephen Marshall, Chief Marketing Officer of the ETSU Research Corporation, Cher Cornett, Chairman of Create Appalachia, and Heath Guinn, President of Sync Space Entrepreneur Center.
