The Northeast State Bears Esports teams of Valorant and Rocket League turned in great performances against gaming opponents from King University and East Tennessee State University (ETSU) at Tri-Cities Slam gaming tournament this past Saturday held at ETSU.
The Northeast State Valorant team defeated the ETSU and King teams to win the tournament’s Valorant Trophy! The Rocket League Bears squad put up two fierce battles but were defeated by the King and ETSU teams.
“I am so proud of our teams; they played very hard and our Valorant team came through with a win,” said Coach Chris Demas. “Most of all, I am so thankful for the character of our players, they model good sportsmanship and represent Northeast State very well.”
The esports teams squared off on stage at ETSU’s Cave of the D.P. Culp Student Center. Demas noted the tournament would take place again this fall. Tournament matches were recorded and can be watched on Twitch at this link: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1781637158. A great showing by our Bears!
