Northeast State welcomes applications now for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Apprenticeship course beginning in July.
The deadline to apply for the July cohort is May 31. The course runs from July 15 to December 2. The classroom coursework (163 hours) includes one evening per week (Mondays 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Regional Center for Health Professions, 300 W. Main Street, in Kingsport.
The apprenticeship program is a career pathway for the apprentice to learn essential skills through combined classroom instruction with paid on-the-job training. The apprentice will also be prepared to pass the National Healthcareer Association CCMA exam and work as a certified medical assistant upon completion of the program.
This 20-week program prepares participants to become members of a medical team with skills necessary to function in a variety of medical settings. The CCMA apprenticeship program requires 2,000 on-job-learning hours. Apprentice candidates will complete 163 related technical instruction hours of coursework. Each apprentice will be paired with a journeyworker mentor during their on-the-job training.
