Northeast State’s Workforce Solutions presents a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) course beginning in July at the College’s Kingsport campus.

The course will be held from July 15 to December 2. The course meets on Monday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Regional Center for Health Professions, 300 W. Main Street, in Kingsport. Registration is open until the deadline date of June 24.

Certified Clinical Medical Assistants work in a variety of healthcare settings such as hospitals, clinics, medical group practices, and public health facilities. This 20-week program will enable participants to become crucial members of a medical team with skills necessary to function in a variety of medical settings. The course will seat a mixed cohort of open enrollment students and apprentice candidates.

Participants will also be prepared to pass the National Healthcareer Association exam and work as a CCMA upon completion of the program. The course fee is $2,500 and includes the NHA certification exam fee.  The exam is administered at the end of the course.

Students with questions about possible financial assistance to attend and/or pre-registration requirements for the course can contact the Workforce Solutions office at WorkforceSolutions@NortheastState.edu.

Students will need to supply their own scrub uniform (black), stethoscope, white lab coat, clear safety glasses, and clean, white athletic shoes (no mesh tops or open toes) or nursing shoes. Additionally, students must have CPR certification along with other health-related records to participate in clinicals. Attendance for all classes and clinical assignments is mandatory.
