A historic new air exhibit, “Soar Tri-Cities: LEADing to New Heights,” will be hosted at Tri-Cities Aviation from Sept. 25 to Sept. 29.
The exhibit, sponsored by Langston Education and Arts Development, Inc. (LEAD), features the Commemorative Air Force Rise Above Tuskegee Airmen. It highlights the trailblazing stories of the Tuskegee Airmen and Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) from World War II. These groups broke racial and gender barriers to serve their country with courage and resilience.
The exhibit’s centerpiece is a 160-degree panoramic screen, offering an immersive flying experience in WWII aircraft accompanied by short films that share the trials and triumphs of the Tuskegee Airmen and WASP.
Visitors can also see a fully restored WWII-era P-51c Mustang, the signature aircraft of the Tuskegee Airmen.
The event will be open to the public from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Northeast State’s Aviation Technology program will also be part of the exhibit, with its helicopter on display and flight simulators available for hands-on experiences. For more information, visitors can go to www.flyTRI.com or visit www.cafriseabove.org to learn more about the CAF Rise Above exhibit.
