Northeast State Community College will begin offering the Pat Summitt Leadership Group online program as part of their workforce solution noncredit courses. The program includes The Definite Dozen principles that were Coach Pat Summitt’s foundation for leadership excellence and high-performing teams.
“We’re thrilled Northeast State is offering the program,” said Christina Reckard, president of Pat Summitt Leadership Group. “It’s a fantastic addition to any educational curriculum. Pat believed anyone could be a leader and that there were a few basic principles that were the key to success in any walk of life. She committed herself to rolling them out to her NCAA teams, so it’s a perfect fit for any college platform.”
Level up your leadership with the self-paced Master the Art of Leadership course modeled by Coach Pat Summitt.
As a championship-winning coach, Pat Summitt knew how to raise great leaders and highly successful teams. She created a philosophy that transcended basketball and has become an important model for success today called The Definite Dozen. These principles were created to highlight Summitt’s 12 “must-have” values for success around topics such as responsibility, respect, discipline, loyalty, communication, and hard work.
Summitt’s blueprint for leadership excellence and high-performing teams is now available through the Pat Summitt Online Leadership Program. The program is self-paced, and each of the 14 online modules contains videos, written content, and quizzes designed to pass on these principles to the next generation.
Summitt was the winningest college basketball coach in American history (men or women) at the time of her retirement. She served as head coach of the University of Tennessee Lady Vols from 1974 to 2012 and amassed more than 1,098 wins over the course of her coaching career.
During her career, Coach Summitt won eight national championships and boasted a 100 percent graduation rate for her student-athletes. She was also an advocate for women’s issues and won many awards and honors for her leadership beyond the basketball court.
The Pat Summitt Leadership Group was founded to educate and inspire individuals on leadership and success using the wisdom and principles of Coach Summitt. Now a part of Southwestern Family of companies, the Pat Summitt Leadership Group was founded by Tyler Summitt and is guided by a board of directors all with the belief that Coach Summitt’s leadership wisdom can continue to have a profound impact on generations to come.
