The Northeast State Theater crew transports audiences to the fantasy world of Middle Earth, live on stage. Reluctant hero Bilbo Baggins takes an epic magical adventure destined to change him and Middle Earth forever.

Bilbo prefers to be sitting in his cozy hobbit hole with a cup of tea and a plate of bacon and eggs. Real adventures are not his cup of tea.

When Gandalf the wizard knocks at Bilbo’s door, bringing with him Thorin Oakenshield, 11 stern dwarfs, and a contract for an adventure to recover the lost treasure of Lonely Mountain, Bilbo could not be less interested – at first. But Bilbo’s love of a good story gets the better of him, and before he knows it, he is off on a perilous quest over mountains and under hills, through caves and forests and slimy, dark places. He encounters many obstacles along the way, culminating with the ferocious legendary dragon, Smaug.

The Northeast State Theatre team adapts J.R.R. Tolkien’s charming classic with imaginative stagecraft. Bilbo meets both friends and foes, making his journey a whirlwind adventure. Discover what happens as Bilbo travels on over freezing mountains and a frightening forest, meeting all sorts of fierce creatures – some who want to eat him, others who turn into dear friends.
