The soulful sounds of jazz meet the spirit of East Tennessee when the band Counter Clay performs at Northeast State on November 14 at the Blountville campus, 2425 Highway 75.
The show begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Entertainment Technology Sound and Lighting Lab (Room O58) on the first floor of the Technical Education Complex building. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission to all concert series shows is free and open to the public. The concert wraps up the Northeast State Entertainment Technology Department’s fall concert series.
Counter Clay gained recognition for their energetic performances and thought-provoking lyrics. The band’s lead vocalist and musician, Calvin Price, offers a fresh take on contemporary music while staying true to the rich traditions of the genre. With a growing fan base, the band has captivated audiences at venues across the region.
The concert theme is Ruth’s Fight Night, to honor individuals battling cancer. The Appalachia Service Project (ASP) and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation will get a portion of the concertgoers’ donations made during the show. The band’s show notes state how revenues for the ASP will be allocated to aid people of southern Appalachia who are reestablishing their lives following the flooding.
