Northeast State at the Gray campus experienced a strong uptick in student enrollment for the fall and spring semesters. The 2025 fall semester welcomed more than 260 students to the Gray campus, representing an approximately 8.5 percent increase over the previous fall term. More than 180 students enrolled in on-ground classes offered at the Gray campus this spring. That number represents a 14.5 percent increase over spring 2025 semester numbers.

“Students can take academic coursework to earn a certificate or associate’s degree,” said Jennifer Puckett, director of Northeast State at Gray.

Northeast State at Gray, located at 120 Dillon Court, offers general education courses such as Introductory Statistics, Biology, Art, and English Composition, just to name a few. The campus also offers a selection of business courses for associate of applied science majors. The most popular degree is an associate of science degree. All courses are part of the general education core set forth by the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) and transferable to any TBR institution.

“Students like the small class sizes, flexible day and evening schedule, parking beside the building, and a campus location centralized to our region, just minutes from Interstate 26,” said Puckett. “It makes for an excellent learning environment where students engage in dynamic discussions with their fellow students and interact with knowledgeable faculty who know their name.

The Gray campus offers highly sought-after full semester and accelerated Anatomy and Physiology I and II courses, which are essential for students pursuing degrees in health professions programs. Additionally, there has been notable growth in dual enrollment, with students from nearby Daniel Boone High School participating in classes at this location. Dual enrollment climbed 37 percent from spring 2025 to spring 2026, while traditional student enrollment rose 17 percent over the same period.

The college’s Aviation Technology program operated in the Gray campus space until 2022 before moving into the Northeast State Aviation Technology hangar. The campus returned to general education core courses for students in 2023. The Culinary Arts program moved into the building in 2024.

Students also have access to advising, tutoring, financial aid, counseling, and other Student Success Services on a rotational basis. Staff make themselves available to students at Gray and all Northeast State campuses on a rotating basis.

“We’re increasing site awareness, as we want our region to know where we’re located and what we offer,” said Puckett. “For future growth, we are also adding classes to our campus schedule that we have not offered.”

Puckett noted new course offerings for the site. In Spring 2026, Gray offered Introduction to Soil Science for agriculture majors and Psychology electives for students pursuing an associate of science degree in Psychology. Next year, Gray will offer finite mathematics and applied calculus, both of which lie within the curriculum for multiple associate of science business degrees.

“Student Success Services does a fantastic job connecting students to available resources,” said Puckett. “Our students tell us how much they enjoy attending classes at Gray, and then they tell their family and friends.”
