Echoes & Images, Northeast State’s student literary and Visual Art magazine, invites Northeast State students to submit their works of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and visual Art to the annual contest. The 32nd annual Echoes and Images competition welcomes submissions from current Northeast State students.
Cash prizes for each award category are: 1st place – $100. 2nd place – $75, 3rd place – $50.
All entries must be original and previously unpublished. Contributors must agree that the submitted work may be published by Northeast State in Echoes & Images or other college publications, in print or online. The winning entries may be edited for grammar, punctuation, and other errors prior to publication in the magazine. Students may enter up to three poems, up to three pieces of visual art in any medium, one piece of fiction up to 3,000 words, and one piece of non-fiction up to 3,000 words. Students may submit their work in all four categories.
The deadline for a submission is December 10. All entries must be submitted digitally this year on the Echoes & Images website: https://www.northeaststate.edu/Campus-Life/Echoes-and-Images/.
Visual Art Contributors must agree to include the submitted work in the Spring Exhibition of Echoes & Images 32. The exhibition is traditionally held in the Wayne G. Basler Library Gallery, on the Blountville campus in the spring. However, in anticipation of changing Covid-19 policies, the exhibition may be available digitally through Northeast State’s website. For this reason, Visual Art entries must be submitted digitally this year to the Dropbox for Visual Art on the Echoes & Images website. Files should be in JPEG format with a maximum file size of 10MB. Entrants are asked to include the medium with their titles.
Contact Art professor Dr. Christal Hensley at cmhensley@northeaststate.edu for more information or questions about submitting your artwork.
