Northeast State hosts a blood drive conducted by the Marsh Regional Blood Center on November 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Blountville campus.
Donations will be given in the Marsh Blood Bus located in the quad area outside the Student Services Building entrance. Potential donors visit a check-in table located in the Courtyard area outside Subway. All donors get a sweet long-sleeved t-shirt and a snack.
Right now, someone needs blood. Your donation could be exactly what makes the difference for that person. It could be someone you know… a friend, a co-worker, even a family member. Or maybe it’s someone you don’t know and will never meet.
Donors can safely give blood every eight weeks, or 56 days. To give blood, a potential donor must be at least 17 years of age, in good general health, and meet basic requirements outlined in the health questionnaire completed at check-in. All blood donors must weigh a minimum of 110 pounds.
Northeast State student clubs who get the most members to participate in the blood drive will win prizes. Students are asked to designate the club that will receive credit for your participation when they check in to donate blood. Prizes for top donating student clubs are: 1st Place – $100; 2nd Place – $75; and 3rd Place – $50.
Tennessee Promise students can earn one hour of community service credit for donating blood. Marsh Regional Blood Center has been the largest hometown supplier of blood and blood products in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia for 70 years. Northeast State and Marsh enjoy a long partnership of rallying students to donate blood.
