My name is Todd Hull, and I am an adjunct professor in the Criminal Justice Department. I have been married for 34 years to my wonderful, supportive wife, Rita, and we have two sons and two Havanese puppies.

I have been teaching mostly evening courses since 2013. My background is in law enforcement and legal. I worked for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office for 12 and a half years. My career there was mostly in criminal investigation; I also worked corrections and patrol. During my eight years of investigations, I worked on every type of crime from theft to murder. I went to work for the District Attorney’s Office as an investigator in 2003. While working there, I got the opportunity to attend the Nashville School of Law and commuted once a week for four years from Johnson City to Nashville.
After graduating law school, I became a prosecutor for the same District Attorney’s Office. During my 11 years as a prosecutor, I practiced in juvenile, general sessions, and criminal court. I retired in June 2022, and I’ve opened my own law practice focusing on wills, estate planning, elder law, probate, criminal defense, and aviation/drone law.
A quality education is important to me. I have an associate’s degree in Public Safety, a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, a master’s degree in Aeronautical Science, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence. Many teachers have had a significant impact on me during my years of educational attainment, and hopefully, I can do the same for my students. As a professor, I try to show the students as much as I can about the topics we cover from the perspectives of police, prosecutors, and defense attorneys; I use real-life cases from this area as illustrations.
It was very nice to “meet’ Dr. Hull and read about his career.
