NE State celebrates 72 high school students graduating with a degree or certificate

Northeast State hosted a graduation reception on April 30 at the Blountville campus for 72 area high school dual enrollment students graduating on May 9 with an A.S. degree or Career Academy certificate.

Thirty-nine of the students will be completing an associate of science degree concurrently with their high school diplomas, while the remaining 33 students will be completing academic certificates in the following areas: Emergency Medical Technician Basic Certificate, 15; Emergency Medical Technician Advanced Certificate, 1; Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning, 1; Machine Tool Operations, 2; and Combination Welding, 16.

“Hard work and opportunity, when they meet, that’s the perfect recipe for success,” Northeast State President Jeff McCord. “You are breaking barriers and laying paths for people coming behind you, and you are an example for the younger students in your high schools and the people you meet in your life. Congratulations.”
