King University and Northeast State Community College (NeSCC) have partnered on a new agreement that streamlines the admissions process and needed coursework for students navigating a Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN) pathway.
Under the new agreement, NeSCC students who have earned an associate’s degree in nursing (ADN), passed the NCLEX, and obtained a registered nurse license will have satisfied all requirements for King’s RN-BSN program. Those with qualifying grades of C+ or better will be classified as juniors who have satisfied all general education requirements, except for Common Experience courses unique to King.
Candidates can then complete King’s RN-BSN program, including any remaining graduation requirements, in three semesters instead of four.

“For many years, King and NeSCC have worked together to develop ways for students who have achieved a two-year degree to advance to four-year programs and beyond,” said Donna Fraysier, DNP, dean of the School of Nursing at King. “We know the time and resources it takes to pursue a bachelor’s program, and we are always working to increase career opportunity and earning potential while reducing student debt. This agreement shortens the process to attain a high-quality RN-BSN degree by a whole semester, giving graduates a competitive advantage half a year sooner than their counterparts.”
The agreement also expands access to specializations in acute care, gerontology, psychiatric mental health care, and more for those who want to progress to the master’s or doctoral level at King.
“Northeast State has a strong relationship with King University and we are always looking for new paths for collaboration,” said Nathan Weber, Ed.D., assistant vice president for Academic Affairs Programs and Services. “We are excited about this opportunity to partner with King in the area of nursing, and with King’s RN to BSN program being fully online, students who complete their RN at Northeast State can enter the workforce while continuing their education. This articulation agreement will have a positive impact on our institutions, our region, and most importantly, our students.”
King’s RN-BSN program is 100% online, helping working adults balance the demands of work and family. Likewise, King’s Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) programs are taught using a HyFlex format that allows students to arrange their own study schedules while also having ready access to support from professors and mentors. Those in the MSN and Registered Nurse to Doctor of Nursing Practice (RN-DNP) program have the opportunity to sit for their nurse practitioner license.
The agreement is now in effect for all those nursing students who graduated from NeSCC during spring 2024 and have passed the NCLEX, as well as those registering at NeSCC for the fall semester 2024 and beyond.
