Opioid overdose prevention course at Elizabethton campus

Workforce Solutions set mental health first aid class at Elizabethton campus on January 9.

Northeast State’s Office of Workforce Solutions announces a free course designed to help individuals respond and prevent opioid overdoses.

Opioid, Stimulant, and Overdose Prevention training educates community members on opioid overdoses and overdose prevention through the distribution of Naloxone. Regional Overdose Prevention Specialists work with their assigned communities to help to reduce harm, address stigma, and increase public awareness, including the brain science of addiction, compassion fatigue, and how to administer Naloxone.

Date: January 27, 2025

Time: 10:00 a.m. to noon

Location: Elizabethton campus, 386 Highway 91, Room E203

Fee: Free to the community

Course instructor Frankie Nunley became a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) in 2013. In 2021, Nunley was trained as a recovery coach, Certified Peer Recovery Supervisor (CPRS supervisor), and became a Certified Men’s Health Educator (CMHE). Nunley presently serves as a Region 1 Regional Overdose Prevention Specialist (ROPS), providing education, training, outreach, and referrals. She also works closely on implementing the “Leave Behind” program with the region’s first responders.
