Summer approaches. The lakes are up, and fun times beckon boaters to Tennessee’s beautiful waterways. Northeast State Community College’s Workforce Solutions office hosts a Boater Education Course in June for boating enthusiasts to get their operator licenses and know the rules of the waves.
The course takes place on Tuesday, June 9, and Thursday, June 11, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on both days. The class will meet in the Corporate Conference Room (T027) in the Technical Education Complex at Northeast State’s Blountville campus. Register online now at Community Education & Enrichment for Workforce Solutions.
Tennessee residents born after January 1, 1989, are required to pass a boating safety exam. Upon completion of the exam, students will receive a TWRA-issued Boating Safety Certification of Completion permit wallet card. Boaters must have this permit card on their person while operating any vessel in Tennessee.
There is no fee to take the course. Class participants do not need to purchase any external materials. Participants will need to purchase their operator’s permit to take the boating safety exam. The permit can be purchased at any participating sports/outdoors store or online through the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency webpage, https://license.gooutdoorstennessee.com/Licensing/CustomerLookup.aspx.
